Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay:  $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application)

Average 29 hours per work week

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health & Human Services - DSOHF - Black Mountain. The primary purpose of the Food Service Assistant is to assist higher level personnel in preparation and or service of food in the service area, as well as cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and dining areas. Employee is responsible for accurate portioning

and serving of food as well as maintaining high sanitation standards in their assigned work areas. Employee may function as assistant to higher level employees in ordering food and supplies, etc. Work is reviewed by a higher level employee for adherence

to sanitation standards and completion of assignments.

* Basic knowledge of preparation, cooking and baking procedures.
* Basic knowledge of appropriate methods of cleaning and sanitizing equipment and small wares.
* Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor for extended periods of time.
* Ability to maintain professional, cooperative working relationships with employees and/or patients.
* Ability to maintain high sanitation standards as outlined in the NC Food Code.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Ability to complete department records as required.

Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

Management Preferences: Prefer staff who have worked in a commercial kitchen and/or food service in a medical facility
