Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Medical Technologist to work onsite in Bethel, AK.

Shift Information: Variable - 8 hour shifts, days evenings, or nights

Position Summary:
  • Under the direction of the laboratory manager, is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures and communication with physicians, nurses and patients.
Responsibilities:
  • Under general supervision, performs the tests ordered in the specific laboratory section(s) as assigned. Sections include chemistry, hematology, transfusion service, and microbiology.
  • Access to coordinator or other professional personnel is required.
  • May assist CLA's and other technical team.
  • Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a related filed required. Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment.
  • One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship.
  • Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment.
  • Generalist, must be proficient in all lab areas including blood bank. Able to work independently. Needs to have a bs in a physical science.
  • Must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
