What You'll Do
As the Laboratory Tech, you will execute, perform, complete, and implement laboratory procedures related to environmental permit requirements, product analysis and plant process evaluation. Other duties include:
* Demonstrate and be committed to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety leadership.
* Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations
* Lives and fosters the Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) values
* Works closely with the site leadership teams to ensure our business culture is driven by our company values
* Supports BEx (continuous improvement) initiatives through active participation, including identification of efficiency and quality improvements in work processes and problem solving.
* Perform all routine and non-routine chemical/physical tests using established test procedures for quality control and environmental/safety control
* Achieve and maintain certification for Small Water System Operator Training.
* Participate on behalf of the lab in USEPA National Standards for Water Proficiency Testing Studies
* Determine validity of test results using established quality assurance techniques.
* Obtain samples as needed from process and environment.
* Complete all laboratory data management records and maintain electronic database.
* Maintain stock inventory of required supplies and make up consumable reagents.
* Make recommendations concerning laboratory equipment purchases.
What We're Looking For:
* High school graduate or equivalent - AA Education in Chemistry or related discipline preferred.
* Laboratory experience in wet chemistry and instrumental analytical techniques preferred.
* Experience in industrial plant operations.
* Written and verbal communication skills, Intermediate MS Office skills.
* Develop and maintain knowledge required for instrument maintenance and repair.
* Working knowledge of chemistry and chemical processes.
* Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
