The Norfolk Community Services Board (NCSB) provides treatment, support, and education to the community with a focus on mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Norfolk CSB provides services to persons in acute crisis as well as integrated, person-centered, and recovery-oriented programming for persons needing assistance and support stabilizing in the community.

Today, the NCSB provides treatment and rehabilitation services to over 6,000 Norfolk citizens yearly. The NCSB is currently seeking a Community Crisis Responder II to provide crisis and/or community stabilization related activities and services. Respond in person and/or by phone to requests for assistance with individuals experiencing behavioral health (mental health and/or addiction) crisis concerns; including persons with co-occurring health, developmental, and/or social vulnerabilities or crisis states. Serves both adults and children. Works with persons in pre-crisis, crisis, post-crisis, and stabilization points in their behavioral health condition. Works in a team environment. May provide training of others. Services are provided in the community and in CSB facilities. Coordinates services with licensed approving staff as needed. CCR II positions are able to provide most services independently, serve fully as the lead or 2nd person on a response team, and can perform services typical of community behavioral health support services. CCR II positions are intended to provide direct services while gaining experience to qualify for CCR III.

The ideal candidate will have experience and the desire to operate as a team providing real-time crisis intervention and deescalation, meeting the individual where they are.Essential functions include but are not limited to: 

* Completes in-person initial assessment to determine functional limitations, eligibility for service, progress and need areas. 
* Performs crisis intervention to resolve critical situations. Provides practical counseling and education to guide the individual in problem-solving strategies and to develop a supportive therapeutic relationship. This may include encouraging adherence to the treatment plan, substance abuse education, discussing relapse prevention strategies, stress management, etc. 
* Maintains chart documentation in compliance with agency guidelines and state/federal regulations. Ensures that documentation substantiates billing. Completes an accurate record of direct and consumer-related services. Completes monthly peer chart reviews.
* Monitors team responses, effective service delivery and customer satisfaction.
* Coordinates linkages and referrals to ongoing services, supports and resources. (examples: housing, peers, chaplaincy), as appropriate and least restrictive level of care including community stabilization.

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a qualified human services field

Considerable experience (3 or more years) in the behavioral health field working with individuals with childhood or adult behavioral conditions, mental illness and/or addictions. Strongly preferred QMHP-A; QMHP-C; and/or CSAC. Clinical licensed or license eligible staff also eligible. 

Preferred Experience:

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in the human services field working with adults or children with serious behavioral health disorders. Previous crisis experience preferred.
* Valid driver's license; certification or certifiable in basic first aid and CPR, depending on area of assignment.
* Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s): Strongly preferred QMHP-A; QMHP-C; and/or CSAC. Persons in certification supervision can also be considered.
* Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
