Mission or Goal of Unit: The VCU Medical Center and Children's Hospital have joined together, forming Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Together, we are a full-service children's hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research, and education. The mission of the Children's Hospital of Richmond's Pediatric Residency Program is to train physicians to become expert pediatricians committed to providing superior medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. Our curriculum emphasizes the delivery of compassionate medical care, an active role in child advocacy and health equity, a dedication to community service, a plan for lifelong learning and a desire for the advancement of medical knowledge. Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking a Pediatric Residency Program Director that will help to lead our outstanding Pediatric Residency Programs. Established in 1934, our program has a long and rich history which provides a comprehensive and stimulating curriculum that includes clinical care, teaching and research. Our faculty is committed to providing the highest quality education in a supportive and collegial atmosphere. In addition, our faculty while remaining readily available, empowers residents to learn critical management skills necessary to function autonomously.

Position Responsibilities:

* Teaching: Faculty will oversee the pediatric residency program as well as provide guidance and mentorship to Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows as the Program Director
* Research: Faculty member will be expected to have an interest in an area of research related to pediatrics and pursue external funding opportunities as well as serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the department of pediatrics.
* Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional activities through journal review, and conference presentations.
* Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a General Pediatrician for the Department of Pediatrics providing high quality patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Required Qualifications:

* Board certified or board eligible in General Pediatrics
* Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21
* Minimum of 3 - 5 years of leadership experience with education of house-staff, medical students, and others
* Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

* Interest and experience in working with General Pediatrics
