As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

* Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
* Help the patient to maintain good personal hygiene.
* Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
* Prepare and serve light meals.
* Assist in feeding patient when needed.
* Assist the patient in ambulation.
* Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.
* Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
* Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowable in state-specific regulations.
* Attempt to promote patient's mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
* Give basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and other members of the household.
* Report any change in the patient's mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team.
* Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.
* Practice infection control measures and standard precautions.
* Provide accurate documentation with visit itineraries
* Attend staff meetings.
* Participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity yearly, as assigned by supervisor.
* Complete documentation in a timely manner as outlined in orientation.

About You

Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:

* Hospice heart: compassionate, kind and empathetic to your patients and their families.
* Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls "home".
* Demonstrate flexibility and composure while supporting others in a time of crisis.
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
* Six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology strongly preferred.
* Additional, preferred experience to help you be successful in a hospice role: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home or travel.
* Current driver's license and automobile insurance.
* Current CPR certification
