PURPOSE:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and welcoming customers when they enter the restaurant, showing customers their seats, and providing them with a menu.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Greet and welcome customers when they enter the restaurant, and place them on a waiting list if necessary.
* Provide customers with server names and menus when seated.
* Seating customers at tables and answering any initial questions about the menu.
* Inspect menus for cleanliness, and clean them when needed.
* Maintain knowledge of the menu.
* Engage with customers to ensure a great customer experience.
* Maintain a clean reception area.
* Answer incoming calls if required.
* Provide excellent customer service.
* Greet customers when they leave the restaurant. Thank them for dining with us.
* Assist wait staff with serving as needed.
* Other tasks as requested by management.
* Obey all federal, state, local, and OSHA laws.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Familiar with health and safety regulations.
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining area and bar.
* Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
* Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time.
* Physical job demands may be subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma preferred

Licensure/ Certification: none

Experience: 6 months as host/hostess or waiter/waitress

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
