  1. Answers phones and assists callers on the 7 main College inbound phone lines.
  2. Willingness to develop mastery of Hillsdale College institutional knowledge.
  3. Provide general customer service while using excellent phone etiquette.
  4. Fulfills customer service agent rolls within Contact Center and is cross trained in
    1. Answering online support, online courses, Imprimis, and donor services email
    2. Gift Receipts
    3. Sorting and opening mail

Qualifications

Individuals must possess such knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using an equivalent combination of skills and abilities.

 

Education and Experience

This position requires a high school education and one year of experience in an office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.

 

Physical Requirements 

Ability to read, write, hear, speak, see and communicate effectively. Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, adding machine, computer equipment, DVD player, display monitors and the like. Position is largely sedentary. Occasional lifting of office supplies, booklets, etc. is necessary.

  1. Perform additional duties as the Director may assign.
  2. Maintain an acceptable attendance record, be punctual, and meet deadlines.
  3. Seek training to enhance or learn new skills.
  4. Knowledge of office procedures.
  5. Possess good interpersonal skills in dealing with College staff, prospective students and parents on the phone and in person.
  6. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to effectively express ideas orally and in writing with or without reasonable accommodations.
  7. Knowledge of basic office machines.
  8. Possess good organizational skills.
  9. Possess good grammar skills.
  10. Ability to provide advanced secretarial skills such as typing and filing.
  11. Possess sound judgment and maturity.
  12. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadline pressures.
  13. Ability to keep calm and remain personable under pressure.
  14. Knowledge of computer software.
  15. Ability to perform primary responsibilities with a minimum of supervision.

 

Personal Characteristics

The Contact Center interacts with College staff, prospective students, parents, and friends.  The ability to present a positive image of the College in contact with students and campus visitors is essential.  A clean and neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission are essential.
