This is a hands-on, salaried, full-time position. A strong desire to work with animals is essential. Benefits other than vacation time are not available.

**General Duties**:
Adoptions
- Provides supervision, leadership and training of adoption staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, firing, training, counseling and disciplining.
- Ensures that all policies and procedures of the adoption process are adhered to.
- Develops ideas for increasing adoptions (in-house promotions, adoption events, adopt-a-thons, etc.)
- Takes proactive measures to find other rescue organizations or sanctuaries (local or otherwise) for excess animals to alleviate crowding and to prevent waiting lists.
- Resolves customer disputes regarding any part of the adoption process in a positive and courteous manner.

Customer Service:

- Oversees that all staff provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Provides the necessary counseling and disciplinary action if excellent customer service is not being provided.
- Holds customer service training sessions when and if needed.

Volunteer Activities:

- Oversees Volunteer Activities and any associated programs (including but not limited to volunteer, foster care, adoption ambassador).

Coordinating Intake of Animals
- Making sure animals are Photographed and Posted to Petfinder/Pet Adoption Portals on intake, or soon afterwards
- Ensuring that Animals are ready for adoption and adoption events
- Overseeing and Working with the Vet Tech to ensure animals are treated for health concerns promptly and are scheduled for spay and neuter surgeries in a timely manner

Ensure Proper Cleaning and Disinfecting
- Cleanliness and Rotation of Disinfectants is of utmost importance in preventing disease
- Train new personnel on proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques

Other Duties:

- Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Shelter Manager assists in carrying out the mission and the vision of the organization.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors, whether listed in this job description or not.
- Attend monthly Board Meetings and deliver monthly metrics (intakes, outtake, etc....)

**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**
- **At least two (2) years of supervisory experience**, including but not limited to experience in conflict management, in a shelter or animal rescue related field.
- Good business acumen.
- Strong customer relation's skills and leadership capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to compile and interpret statistical reports.
- Possesses interpersonal skills, ability to interface with customers and their families.
- Computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; to speak and hear clearly; and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must regularly lift, move, and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds and must occasionally lift, move and restrain animals weighing up to 100 pounds (with assistance).
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Persons performing this job must not be allergic to animals, cleaning agents, or medications.
- Other possible job hazards include exposure to corrosive chemicals and cleaning agents, exposure to feral and vicious animals, to animals with an unknown health history, and therefore, exposure to zoonotic diseases through the use of hypodermic needles, animal bites and scratches, airborne transmission, and physical contact.
