The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division, Prevention Bureau.

This position in the Prevention Bureau is responsible for managing the primary prevention of substance abuse under the Partnership for Success discretionary grant. Responsibilities include working with community and regional-based contractors to implement prevention strategies to reduce substance use prevalence in Montana amongst high-risk populations. This position designs, implements, and assesses grant activities, provides technical assistance to contractors, and develops grant activity reports. All activities are based on the principles of evidence-based practices, quality improvement, and community level outcomes. These duties are typically performed through site reviews, performance monitoring, onsite technical assistance, and provider and project relations. This position reports to the Prevention Section Supervisor and does not supervise.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

* Knowledge of evidence-based programming for substance use disorders.
* Knowledge of program development and quality improvement practices.
* Knowledge of federal and state laws related to grants and contracts.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
* Meet minimum qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in health science, health education, behavioral or social science, public administration, or a related field.
* Two years of job-related experience in health programming or health education, including administration of a federal grant program.
* Other combinations of related education and experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.




* Preferred:
* Master's degree in social work, public health, public administration, or a related field.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024.
