Immunization Program Outreach Specialist

Scope of Work

* Provides routine activities in outreach, public education, data entry, training, recruiting, and reporting for the Texas Vaccines For Children (TVFC) and the statewide immunization registry also known as ImmTrac II
* Supports clinic activities

Essential Job Duties

* Conducts reminder/recall activities
* Provides support to the statewide immunization registry (ImmTrac II)
* Registers patients and completes necessary paperwork
* Utilizes a variety of methods to identify individuals with incomplete immunization histories
* Counsels families regarding the ImmTrac II registry
* Provides education to families and private providers regarding the ImmTrac II registry
* Locates additional immunization records for individuals and ensures immunization information is entered into ImmTrac II
* Resolve questionable matches and maintains records of all client's contacts and outreach activities results
* Identifies new registry users (hospitals, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers)
* Maintains records of all client contacts and the results of outreach activities
* Interprets and/or explains immunization policies, rules, regulations
* Answers the telephone and takes messages
* Adaptable and familiar with software and its updates
* Proficient recordkeeping skills
* Presentations, slides, and announcements using computers on the following or similar software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Ability to exercise HIPAA compliance and confidentiality when dealing with protected health information (PHI)
* Performs other related duties as assigned
* May be required to work other than normal business hours to respond to public health emergencies including but not limited to disease outbreaks and participate in public awareness events such as health fairs or screening

REQUIRED CONTACTS:

* Employee works with the public, area agencies, private providers, local and state officials, and other employees.
* Ability to effectively communicate with the state health department, local health agencies, private physicians, individuals and community-based organizations

Physical and Environmental Conditions

* Ability to sit, stand and move inside the building.
* Ability to transport self from building to building and attend various functions and meetings at other sites within the city.
* Fine dexterity when using computer keyboard, telephone keypad, and calculator.
* Crouching and bending when filing in lower drawers, retrieving items from lower shelves or ground.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

* Knowledge of computer use and software, applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, the internet, electronic mail, and any software pertinent to complete daily business
* Ability to establish and maintain relationships with public and private providers, school officials, stakeholders, and other community groups.
* Ability to understand and interpret policies and implement procedures.
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
* Ability to type 40 wpm.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification

* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Valid Texas driver's license required.
* Ability to acquire CPR certification within 6 months of hire
