Position Information

Job Title Utility I - Groundskeeper Status Full Time FTE 1 Classification Title Support Personnel Job Summary

Under direct supervision, the Utility I - Groundskeeper is responsible for performing semi-skilled work involving all buildings, yards and grounds, machinery, equipment, furniture and vehicles. This includes working with snow plows, commercial lawn mowers, skid steers, or other excavation types of equipment.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED.
* Valid Michigan Driver's License and College approved driving record.
* Proven experience or aptitude in operation of snow plows, commercial lawn mowers, skid steers, or other excavation types of equipment.
* Education, training, and /or experience in landscape maintenance.
* Proven record of dependability, reliability, and honesty.
* Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
* Ability to communicate and work well with others.
* Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively and up to 100 lbs. occasionally and pass the Schoolcraft College pre-employment physical examination.

* Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally required to work in high, precarious places (frequent ladder/aerial lift use), around toxic or caustic chemicals, in outdoor weather conditions and with the risk of electrical shock.

Responsible for setups as directed by room use contracts and work orders.

Responsible to perform designated preventative and operation necessary maintenance on above equipment, i.e. sharpen mower blades, lubrication, etc.
