As a Lead Orthopedic Technician, you champion multiple patients as they begin their rehabilitation journey. Working closely with orthopedic providers and clinical team members, your goal is to maximize functionality and minimize pain for bone and joint injuries with nonsurgical therapeutics, casts and splints, and orthopedic traction equipment. It's all about improving quality of life one step at a time.

Your Everyday

* Perform routine non-routine catheterizations, external catheters, irrigations and bladder scans as ordered by the physician.
* Assist physician/staff with GU cart procedures
* Educate/assist with the implementation of a plan of care in the areas of traction, casts and splints, halo devices, immobilizers CPM machines and other equipment.
* Educate/assist nursing staff with use of Hoyer lifts for patient mobility and bed scales for accurate weights.
* Make daily rounds of patients with orthopedic equipment and document per department procedures.
* Assist in emergency situations and in the control of aggressive patients.
* Provide in-services for unit staff and nursing students, as required.
* Train transporters to perform minimal orthopedic technician duties to assist when required.
* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to perform basic mathematical calculations.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

* High School diploma or equivalent with experience in orthopedics in a clinical/hospital setting.
* Basic training as a nursing assistant, medical corpsman, or EMT.
* American Heart Association Basic Life Support/CPR certification (can be certified once onboarded)
