Join the HJF Team
HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work under Dr. Sharon L Juliano, in support of Military Traumatic Brain Injury Initiative (MTBI2). This incumbent will be responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team and work on potential assessments and treatments for traumatic brain injury in a gyrencephalic animal model. There are a number of experimental scenarios available including work with Positron Emission Tomography, MRI, microscopic imaging, and human post mortem tissue. The work can involve neuropathology/histology, multiple types of imaging, biochemical and behavioral analysis. We are interested in understanding inflammation and mechanisms of treating TBI.
MTBI2 is a federal military traumatic brain injury (TBI) research program organized as a partnership between the Uniformed Services University and the National Institutes of Health. MTBI2 supports a wide range of research from pre-clinical models to investigational projects and clinical trials research on TBI and its comorbidities. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to MTBI2.

Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.
Responsibilities
* Assists in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development.
* Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.
* Performs specialized laboratory research utilizing experimental protocols which involves specialized procedures.
* Collects and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments.
* Assists with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals.
* May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

* This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
Education and Experience
* Doctoral degree
* Minimum of 0-5 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of appropriate scientific area
* ability to analyze and interpret data
* Experience and comfortability working with animals.
* Experience with immunochemistry and biochemistry
* Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check
