The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Research Associate 1 to work on the UHealth Campus. The Research Associate 1 supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research. The Research Associate I will work under the supervision of Dr. Rene Barro, with his investigations that focus on molecular mechanisms by which KV channelopathies cause disorders in excitable cells.
- Operates laboratory equipment; contributes to laboratory maintenance.
- Uses single-molecule fluorescence approaches, patch clamp, and voltage clamp techniques.
- Perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests, experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes.
- Compile, analyze, document, and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results.
- Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments.
- Publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research in other reputable outlets.
- Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
- Prepares reports of research results for public presentation through seminars and conferences.
- Collects and analyzes data as requested.
- Undertakes literature searches for the research project. Interprets and present the findings of the literature searches, advising the research teams appropriately regarding potential projects.
- Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
- No prior experience required
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
