Survey Instrument Operator

Job Description

Operates various surveying measuring devices including differential levels, data collectors, electronic total stations, and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment. Performs research of property deeds, easements and right of way plans. Develops detailed field survey notes and sketches. Maintains survey equipment and assist Survey Party Chief in resolving issues with equipment. Documents pertinent field and office related activities to ensure maintenance of accurate records. Assumes the responsibilities of a Rod Person as required. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. 2 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
