Medical Lab Technnician

Summary: MLT is a laboratory professional with 2 year medical laboratory degree or MT with a 4 year degree. Provide accurate laboratory test results when accepting or obtaining best specimen possible for the ordered test using proper supplies and/or equipment. Serve patient needs from all age groups from neonate through geriatric patients.
Reports to: Lab Manager
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Performs laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory
* Evaluates results for clinical significance and validity, exercising independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
* Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning within defined tolerance limits.
* Actively participates in quality improvement activities on an ongoing basis and complies with standard operating procedures.
* Reports timely, accurate test results
* Keep equipment properly maintained and calibrated.
* Provide direction and assistance to other staff during shift
* Assists ongoing lab review and improvements and other duties assigned by lab manager
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree from accredited school of Medical Lab Science
Experience: 1 year experience and certification from ASCP, AMT, HHS or equivalent agency preferred.
