We are looking to hire a full time Family Engagement Specialist for our Quality Parenting Center. Our Quality Parenting Center (QPC) provides opportunities for parents to have supervised family time with their children, learn and practice new parenting skills, repair family relationships, and improve the quality of the parent-child interaction. Under the direct supervision of the Quality Parent Center Coordinator and the Director of Family and Youth Support Services, the Family Engagement Specialist completes intake/assessments with parents, provides supportive services to families and co-facilitates psycho-educational groups for biological parents and provides supervision to the Visitation Coaches.

The incumbent must possess sound professional training and experience in the field of human services with emphasis on family dynamics and child development, a commitment to a strength based treatment philosophy; experience in using appropriate parenting skills, effective verbal and written communications, strong observation and documentation skills required, demonstrate maturity and self-awareness, and; must be culturally competent and demonstrate the ability to work with diverse populations.

Typical Duties Include:

Provide pre/post support to parents that includes establishing a trusting relationship with the assigned parents(s), visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis.

Coordinates intakes/assessments with parents and DCF and develop initial plan for the family.

Match Visitation Coaches with family needs.

Implement and provide support and educational groups for parents.

Facilitate monthly and quarterly meetings with DCF and parents to review treatment plan progress and concerns.

Supervise visits between children and biological parents and develop appropriate activities to ensure that the visits are meaningful.

Provide direct supervision to Visitation Coaches.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Child Development, or other relevant course of study. Experience working with parents and children who have been separated from one or more parents due to the courts and/or Department of Children and Families (DCF) is preferred. Must maintain a valid driver's license. Preferred but not required supervisory experience. Must be able to work a 40 hours work week including weekends.
