MBMS Restorative and Behavioral Interventionist
Job Summary
The restorative and behavioral Interventionist is responsible for providing a safe and structured learning environment for students throughout the school assigned to in-school suspension. This role requires a patient and understanding individual who can effectively manage student behavior, promote positive interactions, and support students in academic progress during their suspension period.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension, ensuring they remain in the designated area and adhere to ISS guidelines.
- Monitor student behavior and address any disruptive or inappropriate conduct in a calm and professional manner.
- Enforce ISS policies and procedures, including confiscating contraband items and documenting incidents.
- Facilitate assigned academic work and provide support to students as they complete schoolwork during their suspension.
- Maintain a positive and productive learning environment that fosters respect and cooperation among students.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student behavior and progress during ISS.
- Document student behavior and progress in ISS logs and reports.
- Prepare ISS reports and participate in meetings as needed.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development and adolescent behavior.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict situations and manage challenging behavior effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and other relevant software.
