Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children at all times.
  • Explain visitation rules and visitor expectations to all parties.
  • Provide parents with monitored visitation to maintain bond between parent and child while child is in out-of-home placement.
  • Provide visitation monitoring services appropriate to the family visitation level of supervision from CWS.

  • Redirect any inappropriate conversation/actions observed between children, parent(s)/ visitor(s) and terminate visits if the parent/visitor is not following rules/redirection from staff or, is under the influence
  • Assist parents and children with a smooth transition at the end of their visitation experience, as needed.
  • Provide County Social Worker with documentation of all transactions having occurred during the visit and report any allegations of abuse to Child Protective Services, completing Narrative Section of Form 04-217.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of visitation centers and transport children of all ages, and authorized parents, from various locations to and from visitation. This includes lifting children in and out of the car seats and ensure appropriate car seats or safety equipment are utilized based on age/ weight/ height requirements.
  • Maintain up to date calendar and regularly communicate with responsible parties.

  • Utilize training to assist with deescalating stressed or emotional children.
  • Check identification of participants before transfers occur.
  • Conduct safe operation and maintenance checks of program transportation vehicle. Report the occurrence of moving violations or accidents to supervisor.
  • Maintain a flexible working schedule to accommodate families' schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, monthly reporting and data entry documenting all services provided.

  • Assure security of confidential information and materials.
  • Attend agency, program and collaborative meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Preferred, a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social work, child development or related human services field and a minimum of two years of related experience providing direct client services.

Knowledge: Preferred knowledge of dynamics of abuse and neglect; family systems; an understanding of cultural issues; skills in assessment and intervention; understanding of reporting laws; knowledge of resources in the community; ability to collaborate with other agencies; and understanding of quality control issues.

Abilities: Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity. Ability to provide support, structure, empathy, sound judgment, insight into human behavior and family relations.

Skills: Effective communication skills. Must be a team player and be able to work independently. Computer literate as appropriate. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Must be able to appropriately interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Other Requirements: Must have a valid California driver's license, insurance and a reliable vehicle and be willing to use it on the job. Must be willing to work flexible schedule. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have at least one year of experience in the class of vehicle operated. During the last 36 months, the driver shall not have any of the following experiences: Been convicted of a felony; Been convicted of sale, handling or use of drugs; Has automobile insurance canceled, declined or not renewed by a company; Been convicted of an alcohol- or drug-related offense while driving; Had driver's license suspended or revoked; Been convicted of three or more speeding violations or one or more other serious violations; Been involved in three or more chargeable accidents.

Physical Demands:
• Sitting for long periods of time in the homes of client families, in the office or at required meetings.
• Daily traveling in car to clients or to agency and community meetings.
• Frequent note taking and recording in case files by hand.

Work Environment:
• Office space is shared.
• The noise level fluctuates from quiet to noisy.
