YWCA Lancaster is looking for a part-time Medical Advocate, who is an integral part of our team.

Starting pay rate $60.40/shift; $15.85/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6pm-6am (Saturday and Sunday 24/7 every 5 weeks) or

Monday-Friday 6am-6pm (Saturday and Sunday 24/7 every 5 weeks)

What your day looks like:
  • Responsible for hotline advocacy and supporting victim survivors and their significant others at local area hospitals who are receiving sexual assault forensic exams.
  • Shifts are completed remotely from an advocate's residence; once you received a call you have one hour to get to one of the hospitals in Lancaster County.
  • Requires attendance of bi-monthly meetings.
  • Requires yearly on-going training.
  • Answer calls from the hotline during your shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to stay calm in crisis situations, support survivors and provide choices for someone through their experience.

YWCA Lancaster is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Current offerings include the Racial Equity Institute, Dorothy Height Book Club and Lunch & Learns on current topics; Kepler Hall residence, home to fifty women, men and children; YWonderful Kids providing child enrichment for ages six weeks to five years and before/after school care in a number of settings; Sexual Assault Prevention and Counseling Center with a 24 hour hotline and no-cost professional counseling for survivors of sexual assault and significant others. Our programs address the fact that far too many individuals experience violence, and lack economic security, and these issues disproportionately impact women and people of color. If we want to empower all women, we must also tackle racism.When all women and families can reach their full potential, our communities thrive.
