JOB SUMMARY

Evaluate, research and document restitution amounts on juvenile and criminal cases. Prepare original and amended restitution orders. Transmit orders for collection. Prepare motions for amendments. Prepare subpoenas and gather materials for restitution hearings. The purpose of the position is to effectively and efficiently assist in our goal of providing timely information, comfort, support, and assistance to crime victims, witnesses and family members.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The supervisor for this position is Pamela Grosh, the program director of Victim/Witness Services. There are no staff positions that report to this individual.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

15% Evaluate each criminal and juvenile case for the applicability of restitution.

55% 55% Investigate the amount and the payees for each case. Provide appropriate documentation for the decisions reached and for utilization at restitution hearings.

10% Prepare a restitution summary for the Court's approval at the time of sentencing.

10% Enter data and accurately and precisely into the computer.

10% 10 % Amend and correct restitution orders if additional information is received following sentencing. Prepare amended orders for the Court's approval, if required.

The percentage of time spent on essential duties will vary as the needs of the job require.

OTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIES

* Control work flow so information is received and the restitution amounts are prepared on each case in a timely fashion.


* Perform other duties as assigned



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* College degree in a related field or 2 years post high school education and 2 years work experience in a related field.


* Financial or mathematics skills and/or experience preferred.



PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Ability to deal with conflicting and demanding priorities, to multi-task and to organize work


* Ability to maintain confidentiality


* Ability to plan, document and execute all responsibilities


* Ability to learn, possess and apply basic knowledge of operating a personal computer


* Knowledge of and ability to understand the criminal justice system and the juvenile justice system.


* Professionally interact and communicate with clients and co-workers by telephone, written communication or in-person


* Commitment to the rights of crime victims


* Ability to communicate, problem-solve, work independently and follow directions.


* Ability to interact with people of varying socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.


* Ability to perform work under the normal working conditions under which job operates.



REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

* Successful completion of a background investigation and a clean criminal record, ChildAbuse clearance and FBI fingerprint check.


* The background investigation includes a questionnaire and examination of the driving record and social history.
