Regional Local Health Supervisor (Program Administrator 3)

The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

The Center of Public Health Excellence brings together the Offices of Public Health Practice, Health Opportunity, and Resources and Grant Development to support Ohio's Local Health Departments, lead Public Health Accreditation and Ohio's Health Improvement Plan activities, address health equity across Ohio's public health system, and identify funding opportunities to support programs at the State and Local level.

What You'll Do:

The Program Administrator 3 will work within the Center of Public Health Excellence to act for the deputy director in the Center of Public Health Excellence carry out the mission of public health in Ohio in coordination with local health departments and other stakeholders (e.g., health providers, academic institutions, public health associations, and community-based organizations). This position will supervise regional local health officers to coordinate coordinate statewide services, address emerging needs and public health concerns, identify and address opportunities for quality improvement, and serve as a liaison between State and Local agencies and programs. Additional duties may include:

* Lead the hiring, training, development, and evaluation of regional local health officers.
* Independently formulate response to complex inquiries.
* Develop policies and procedures related to local support operations; communicates agency decisions on behalf of leadership.
* Research best practices to address health and administrative challenges and implements identified strategies.
* Prepare and administer budgets for programs and projects.
* Administer statewide public health projects to support local health departments and other community-based organizations (e.g., develops project concepts, oversees budgeting and procurement for projects, ensures quality implementation, conduct evaluation activities with the support of data specialists).
* Administer regional public health performance management scorecard and continuous improvement activities.
* Monitor local health department compliance with policy and regulatory requirements and takes corrective action where necessary.
