Family Worker

Hours: 25 Hours per week (Monday - Friday 1:00pm - 6:00pm) (Summer Hours 10:00am - 3:00pm)

Location: Passaic, NJ

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator he/she will assist coordinate the services offered to youth between the ages of 9 to 17. Program participants are referred by local school officials, families or custodial parent, and other community organizations. Services include: one on one tutoring, behavior modification, individual guidance and support, group guidance, home visits, school visits, and referrals in-house or to other community organizations for additional support and counseling.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

l . Carries out the service plan CFCS-HIC and referring agency have developed identifying service needs, goals and objective. (Tutoring, anger management, gang involvement, conflict resolution,

* Document progress of participant and provides the information to the supervisor on a monthly basis.
* Accompanies supervisor on home visits to meet with parents to discuss program goals and objectives; and to offer agency's services if needed.
* Conducts trainings and workshops on behavior modification skill sets.
* Assists participants in developing social skills, and motivates participants to be responsible toward themselves and society,
* Work as part of a team with other program staff in the planning and development of recreational activities, workshops, and presentations.
* Maintain files, progress notes, and attendance sheets.
* Supervise participants, and implements program rules and policies.
* Provides transportation services to youth to various locations, and home using agency vehicle.
* Attend all related meetings, trainings, and other duties as assigned.
* Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate's Degree in Sociology, psychology, or related discipline preferred.
* Minimum of two (2) years experience in working with youth in urban cities.
* Must have a valid N.J. Driver's license.
* Must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
