Job Summary

Murphy Oil Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal to join our legal team and provide comprehensive support to our in-house counsel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law, corporate governance, and securities regulations, with demonstrated experience in supporting public company operations. This role will report to the Director, Governance & Legal Services.

The Senior Paralegal will work in our Houston, Texas, corporate office and may work up to two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

* Assist with the preparation, review, and filing of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate and regulatory filings
* Coordinate and maintain corporate governance documents, including board and committee meeting materials, minutes, resolutions, and compliance with state and federal regulations
* Assist with managing both U.S. and international entity management tasks, including maintaining corporate records, entity formation and dissolution, and compliance with laws and regulations
* Provide support to in-house counsel on litigation matters, including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, managing discovery processes, and coordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders
* Organize and manage electronic and physical legal files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with document retention policies
* Support the Law Department in responding to inquiries and requests from regulatory authorities, auditors, and other stakeholders
* Assist in the preparation of materials for board meetings, shareholder meetings, and other corporate events, including organizing and conducting compliance training sessions for employees
* Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and corporate governance guidelines relevant to the company's operations and industry

Licenses/ Certifications

* Paralegal certification preferred

Qualifications/Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or related field
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a paralegal
* Proficiency in legal research tools and databases, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced corporate environment while maintaining a professional demeanor and managing confidential information with discretion

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies or related field and minimum 5 years' experience as a paralegal, in a corporate legal department or law firm serving public company clients, with a strong understanding of securities laws, corporate governance principles, and regulatory requirements applicable to public companies
* Experience with international entity management and familiarity with international corporate structures and regulations
