Responsibilities:
* Performs IOM monitoring and EP evaluations.
* Performs all functions of an Registered IOM Technologist.
* Performs functional mapping using SSEP, ECOG, and cortical stimulation.
* Assists in documentation and mapping during micro electrode recording.
* Performs nerve action potential recordings of peripheral nerves.
* Provides technical support for epilepsy staff during implantation of subdural grids and SEEG. Ensures ECOG during stereotactic depth implantation.
* Other duties as assigned.
Education:
* Associate's Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related patient care field.
Certifications:
* Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Certification (CNIM) with Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Complexity of Work:
* Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Work Experience:
* Minimum two years of recent experience in intraoperative monitoring.
* Knowledge and demonstrated competency of instrumentation, testing protocols, techniques, and interventions of intraoperative monitoring and routine EP.
Physical Requirements:
* Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
* Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 200 pounds.
* Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
* Requires some exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
