As a Medical Coder with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
  • Read and understand Operative and/or Procedure notes.
  • Apply CPT and ICD-10 codes to Operative reports.
  • Communicate with providers regarding complex/unusual cases.
  • Responsible for coding all daily office visits.
  • Understand and follow billing/coding compliance and regulations.
  • Understand concepts of unbundling and heeds government regulations.
  • Understand insurance rules and regulations.
  • Periodically audit chart notes.
  • Training of Physicians, Mid-level providers, and Therapists on documentation requirements.
  • Append modifiers as needed to claim.
  • Verify signed ABNs on file.
  • Understand patient confidentiality laws and regulations and ensure all proper releases are on file.
  • Clearly and accurately documents all correspondence regarding an account.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all email and telephone messages.
  • Keep coding Lead/Supervisor informed of all concerns related to patient accounts.
  • Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, red flag rules.
  • Prepare, review, and submit clean claims to insurance companies within timely filing limits.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, billing and coding regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of health insurance plans and benefits.
  • Excellent knowledge of payer rules and guidelines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPT and ICD-10.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current CPC Certificate.
  • Previous Orthopedic Coding experience.
  • Advanced understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, billing and coding regulations.
