This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus

The Inpatient Oncology unit is located on the 4th floor at Parkview Regional Medical Center. It is a 22 bed unit that primarily sees cancer patients going through active treatment under the care of an Oncologist, but sometimes some overflow Med Surg patients as well. It is a fast-paced, high acuity unit. Patients are very sick and are often moved to and from the ICU multiple times. Patients may stay in the unit for weeks at a time and typically have multiple admissions to the unit.

Summary

Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs and uniqueness of assigned patients. Is responsible for the delivery of quality care and service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.

Education

Must have a HS Diploma or GED. If candidate is at least 17 years of age but does not yet have a current high school diploma/GED, the following requirements must be met: must be actively working towards high school diploma/GED and receive within 2 years of hire.

Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA, EMT or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkview's Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire; 2 years' experience in a healthcare related field, training time will be determined based on experience; currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations; if hired prior to 12/3/18, two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted.

Licensure Certification

Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. EMT/CNA/Paramedic certification preferred.

Other Qualifications

Prefer one year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be able to attend four (4) days of New Hire/Patient Care/EPIC Orientation. Typical orientation schedule is Monday (All Day), Tuesday (All Day), Wednesday (All Day) and Thursday (All Day).
