Electrical & Instrumentation Pre-App Technician - Decatur Complex Facility

E&I Pre-Apprenticeship Program

This is a part time, hourly position.

Position Summary:

We are looking for individuals ready to begin a new career adventure offering new challenges and responsibilities within one of our Decatur Complex facilities. We will provide you with a unique opportunity to get started with a college education, in addition to online learning, job shadowing, and hands-on interactive methods.

Qualifications

* Students must be at least 17 years old
* High School Senior on track to graduate May 2025
* Maintain a cumulative 2.25 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
* Meet attendance requirements in school and at ADM
* Upon selection into the program, students will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment background process as administered per ADM policy/procedures.

Summer 2024

* Mid-June 2024 to July 2024
* 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Fall 2024 for Credit

* August 2024 to December 2024
* 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (pending High School/RCC schedule)
* Monday through Friday

Spring 2025 for Credit

* January 2025 through May 2025
* 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (pending High School/RCC schedule)
* Monday through Friday
* Program Graduation Ceremony: May 2025

Job Introduction:

You will learn about the fundamentals related to:

* Basic knowledge of process sensors/transmitters
* Calibration Device Standards and Equipment - Calibrated Frequency and documentation
* Basic knowledge of electrical safety devices (breakers, fuses, etc.)
* Troubleshooting 4-20mA instrument control loops
* Assist in the installation and wiring of new/modified electrical equipment
* Troubleshooting motor control circuits
* Maintain accurate and thorough knowledge of manuals, publications and files concerning equipment, programs, and production processes
* On the job training will be provided alongside a mentor

Job Requirements:

* Ideal candidate should possess strong people and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, as well as a motivated personality with a willingness to take initiative
* Proficient in the use of a computer with experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred
* Must be able to hear and speak clearly; read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing to effectively communicate in person or by phone.
* Position requires sitting for prolonged periods of time; standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing a ladder, kneeling, and operating a keyboard.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
* Students must adhere to high school attendance policy and also adhere to ADM's attendance policy

Restrictions: Under no circumstance will a pre-apprentice be permitted to drive or ride in a motor vehicle while on ADM property. Pre-apprentices are not allowed to perform any work prohibited by the Department of Labor (DOL) as described in the federal youth employment regulations including the DOL's Hazardous Occupations Orders which prohibit minors to work with power-driven hoisting equipment (forklifts, skid steers, backhoes, manlifts, etc.), power-driven chain saws or any cutting machinery, among others. Please refer to the DOL Hazardous Occupation Orders for more information.

Upon selection into the program, students will be required to successfully pass ADM's pre-employment background and screening requirements.
