Principal Scientist, Protein Analytics

Dragonfly Therapeutics is seeking a Principal scientist who brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor, and a desire to help drive novel immunotherapy programs forward. The candidate must be independent, goal-oriented, flexible, and able to work efficiently across multiple projects. Responsibilities:
  • Provide mass spectrometry support of antibodies, TriNKETs, and recombinant proteins, including intact mass, peptide mapping, post-translational modification identification, disulfide mapping, de novo sequencing, and glycan profiling/identification of released glycans. Support developability studies by identifying and quantifying the chemical modification of amino acids after stress
  • Leverage expertise in protein mass spectrometry to answer critical questions throughout all phases of biologics development
  • Ensure mass spectrometry instruments are maintained
  • Serve as mentor to junior scientists and provide training/troubleshooting for routine intact mass analysis
  • Interpret results and communicate with cross-functional colleagues and external partners
  • Prepare technical reports, internal, and external presentations
  • Author / review relevant sections of regulatory submissions (IND/IMPD) and respond to questions from regulatory agencies
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new and existing mass spectrometry-based technologies to improve protein characterization capabilities, throughput, and quality
  • Ensure effective, high-quality, timely and appropriate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and equipment as needed to support experiments
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or equivalent related fields with 7+ years relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience in protein mass spectrometry including previous experience with Thermo and Waters mass spectrometers and Protein Metrics data analysis software
  • Experience with characterization of proteins with additional techniques such as CD, AUC, DSF, DSC, SEC-MALS, DLS/SLS, CE, cIEF, HPLC-based assays (SEC, HIC, IEX, etc.) is desirable
  • The candidate should be self-motivated, accountable, inquisitive, and have excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and balance multiple priorities
