Title
Interventional Radiology (IR) Scheduler
The IR Scheduler, working under the direction of the nurse scheduler, is responsible for collaborating with department staff, medical staff, patients, and family members. The IR scheduler is responsible for all incoming telephone calls to the scheduling office, giving proper information and instructions, and helping with the throughput process. The IR scheduler is able to book procedures quickly, efficiently, and proficiently without supervision.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
* Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program
* CMA/CCMA/RMA certified
* Meet eligibility requirements to take CMA/RMA and must be obtained within 6 months of hire
* Note: Vocational Coordinator to determine eligibility requirements for CMA or RMA within 6 months.
BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
Additional Job Description:
* Knowledge of clinical skills as required with Medical Assistant Certification/Registration.
* Knowledge of medical terminology

* Document pertinent information in EMR, accurately documenting required information in patient's record and maintaining documentation standards.
* Reviews chart prior to procedure appointment to assure requests and documents are in place.
* Schedule outside tests or procedures for patients in other departments of facilities such as x-ray, MRI, etc.
* Coordinate admissions, referrals, call in prescriptions, etc.
* Able to screen calls and determine urgency, necessity of appointments or whether phone advice is sufficient.
* Attend staff, educational or other meetings as required.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
