Summary

Position Highlights:

* To provide pastoral care and counseling to Catholic patients, family members and others as needed.
* To provide religious ministry of word and sacrament to Catholic patients, their families and others as needed.
* To work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team.
* To communicate accurately, clearly and in a timely manner, both verbally and in written materials.
* To function as a team member of the Department of Chaplaincy Care.
* To record daily work into the Pastoral Care Activity Reporting System (PCARS).
* To perform duties of on-call after hours, on weekends and holidays when scheduled.

The Ideal Candidate

* The ideal candidate will have the following:
* One (1) or more units of CPE
* Ordination as a Catholic Priest
* Master's Degree in Theology (Divinity)
* Faculties with the Diocese of St. Petersburg
* 2 or more years' experience in a setting such as, but not limited to, hospital, hospice, long-term care facility; religious institution, center of worship



Responsibilities:

* Provide Spiritual Assessment and counseling to Catholic patients, families and staff.
* Provide the Sacrament of the Sick for Catholic patients as appropriate.
* Support patients' rights by considering psychosocial, spiritual and cultural variables influencing perceptions of illness.
* Document work clearly and accurately so that chaplain colleagues and other disciplines caring for the Catholic patients are aware of the services and sacraments that have been provided.
* Visit Catholic patients on the list that is provided from the Patient Directory.
* Respond to referrals when scheduled to be in-house.
* Maintain all mandatory education, occupational health requirements, and any other required activity of all Moffitt employees.

Credentials and Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Theology (Divinity)
* Ordination as a Catholic Priest
* Faculties with the Diocese of St. Petersburg
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a setting such as, but not limited to, hospital, hospice, long-term care facility; religious institution, center of worship
* Evidence of understanding of diverse populations
