Job Description

Danfoss in Loves Park, IL is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with deep variable speed drive and/or electrification experience to develop customer solutions as part of our Applications Design Center. The team’s role is to win market share by solving customer issues with a technical approach. Application areas include Electrification, Water, HVAC, and Heavy Industries. Development topics include power electronics, power topologies, magnetics/filters, simulation, and design of product solutions utilizing hardware/software integration.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop product solutions, including first-of-kind solutions, utilizing the existing and planned portfolio and identifying portfolio gaps required to gain business with dream accounts.
• Perform proof of concept of technical solutions in preparation for commercialization
• Provide input to Product Teams for commercialization on technical solutions and business cases.
• Collaborate and hand off mature applications to After Sales Service.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product applications at key accounts. Develop and maintain relationships with Product Management, Product Development, S/C, Customer Service, Product Teams, Sales, Business Development, Center of Excellence, and Customers.
• Interact with key customers to understand their requirements at a systems level and provide technical support.
• Provide on-site support to the customer from business development to commissioning of first-of-kind systems.
• Ability to travel within the region 15%.

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a similar field (BSEE, BSCpE, BSCS).
• 10+ Years of relevant experience with variable speed drives and their application.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
• Excellent Knowledge of the following: IGBT/Power semiconductors, Power topologies, Analog Design/control electronics, Magnetics/filters.
• Lab Experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, function generators, and experiment setup and measurement. Specific experience with proper probe setup for oscilloscopes to ensure accurate readings of high frequency and high common mode measurements.
• Working knowledge of Computer-aided engineering design tools, including MatLab, Pspice, and Ansys tool bench, as well as PC-based computer equipment and peripherals.
• Deep understanding of the Danfoss product portfolio and applications at the systems level.
• Experience developing drives, drive applications, and/or electrification applications.
• Experience with UL61800-5-1, UL1741SB and/or UL9540.
• Experience with industrial automation.
