About Us:
Our client is a leading player in the manufacturing industry, committed to innovation, quality, and excellence. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Accounting to join their finance team. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and accounting functions. You will report directly to the CFO with some potential career progression to that role.
Position Overview:
The Director of Accounting will oversee the accounting department, ensuring the company’s financial operations are in compliance with regulatory requirements and aligned with industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in public accounting as well as a strong background in manufacturing finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight: Lead the accounting department, including managing accounting staff, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and reports.
Reporting & Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, and other relevant standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts. Provide analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Internal Controls: Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
Audit Management: Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit and facilitate the resolution of audit issues. Manage internal audits and compliance reviews.
Manufacturing Finance: Apply accounting principles and practices specific to the manufacturing industry, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
Public Accounting Experience: Leverage public accounting experience to ensure adherence to best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership: Mentor and develop accounting staff, foster a collaborative and high-performance environment, and ensure effective performance management.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA/MBA is preferred but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of accounting experience, including at least 1-2 years in a managerial role. Experience in public accounting is preferred, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing sector is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring accounting professionals.
