Responsibilities:
Responsible for training, implementation and monitoring of the business processes that facilitate obtain authorizations, insurance verification, point of service estimate and medical necessity compliance. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining quality assurance of accounts requiring authorization. Completes and monitors staffing schedules and ensures proper coverage when there are call offs. Ensures adherence to applicable policies and procedures and key performance indicators to monitor the efficiency, effectiveness and compliance of all processes and staff.
Monitors and maintains quality assurance of all accounts requiring authorizations, insurance verification, point of service estimates and medical necessity compliance.
Ensures all Patient Access duties are carried out according to facility policies and procedures
Ensures all Patient Access duties are carried out efficiently and accurately
Works closely with patient financial services to ensure the efficient computer entry of all necessary insurance information and authorization documentation to allow timely coding and billing
Recommends revisions in Patient Access policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state rules and regulations
Monitors and measures operational metrics including productivity, verification and authorization rates as well as point of service collections.
Strategically schedules and monitors staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage in all areas. Completes financial clearance functions and other staffing functions as needed.
Plans and implements onboarding and training for new hires and new or expanding service lines.
Stays abreast of, and educates staff on governmental regulations, payer changes and ensures all staff are in compliance.
Assists with root cause analysis and leading initiatives for front end denial prevention.
Creates a positive working environment through coaching, constructive real time feedback, open dialogue on work related issues and encourages and supports staff decision making within their scope of responsibility.
Performs, monitors and measures areas of financial clearance including confirming authorization, insurance verification, financial clearance have been completed.
Monitors for, adapts to and implements use of advances in technology as they pertain to Patient Access
Requirements:
An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare administration preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least three years’ experience serving in a patient access role; 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
Thorough knowledge of patient access functions, insurance plans, tools and regulations.
Exhibited leadership and teambuilding skills.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, preferably Meditech.
