Job Summary: The Faculty Affairs Coordinator facilitates the faculty hiring process for the college. Ensures compliance with University policies, procedures, and practices and federal and state regulations. Assists with analyzing problems and concerns in order to formulate a recommended solution on routine human resources issues in the areas of organizational structure, employment, training, and policy guidance to administration on organizational and departmental issues and needs.
Additional Department Summary: Serves as a liaison between the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S), UA Human Resources, and the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) to support strategic HR initiatives for the college. Provides college-wide support of the employment life cycle for A&S faculty and staff. Manages faculty and staff recruitment processes for the Dean’s Office and provides oversight and guidance to departments managing their recruitment processes. Ensures compliance with applicable UA policies and procedures. Completes routine and special HR-related projects for the college. Partners with the college’s HR Business Partner to provide guidance to college supervisors regarding personnel matters.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher; OR Associate's degree and two (2) years of experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in writing and verbally. Ability to strategically plan and work independently and as part of a team. Ability to problem solve and propose solutions consistent with established policies and procedures. Ability to work cooperatively with others toward common objectives. Strong organizational and time management skills and be detailed oriented. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field. Human Resources experience in a higher education environment. Familiarity with UA’s HR systems (Banner HR, eTime, and PageUp). Working knowledge of UA, federal, and state regulations.
