We are seeking a highly independent and skilled Medical Billing Specialist who excels in collections, appeals, payment posting, and patient billing, all while managing the pressure of deadlines with minimal supervision.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated Medical Billing Specialist with strong experience in collections, appeals, and payment posting. The ideal candidate will independently manage billing processes, post payments into the EMR system, and bill patients for any outstanding balances. This on-site position in the Katy, Texas area is perfect for someone who can work efficiently with minimal direction and who is driven to maximize revenue recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collections & Appeals: Independently manage and recover outstanding balances from insurance companies and patients, including claims up to two years back, ensuring timely revenue recovery.
- Medicare & Medicaid Expertise:* Stay current with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid billing regulations, with a focus on compliance in home health and hospice services.
- Documentation Management: Secure physician signatures on orders promptly to meet insurance deadlines, ensuring patient care and payment processes remain on track.
- NOA & NOE Handling: Submit Notice of Admissions (NOA) and Notice of Elections (NOE) accurately and within required timelines.
- Medicare DDE System Proficiency: Utilize the Medicare Direct Data Entry (DDE) system for tracking claims and ensuring correct payment processing.
- Pre-Authorizations: Manage pre-authorizations independently to ensure services are approved and paid without delays.
- Payment Posting & Patient Billing: Post payments into the EMR system and generate accurate bills for patients with outstanding balances.
- Waystar & Kinnser Experience: Experience with these systems is highly beneficial for efficient billing and collection workflows.
- Self-Starter & Independent Worker: Take initiative in resolving issues and completing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Customer Service & Record Management: Maintain clear communication with patients and insurance companies while managing accurate records and responding promptly to inquiries.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in medical billing with a focus on collections, appeals, and payment posting.

- Proficiency in the Medicare DDE system and EMR systems (Waystar and Kinnser experience is a significant plus).

- Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines for documentation, payment posting, and patient billing.
- Ability to conduct audits and resolve billing issues under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams.
Preferred Location:
Candidates living in or near the Katy, Texas area are strongly preferred due to the on-site nature of this position.
