We are seeking an experienced Bilingual (English/Spanish) EHS Specialist for a food manufacturing company in the city of Van Nuys. The ideal candidate will oversee and enforce environmental health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Provides consultation and direction to ensure programs and services are consistently implemented with the highest level of environmental, health and safety standards. Audits policies and procedures to ensure compliance and applicability to current business needs. This position is direct hire and salary range is 80 to 87K.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Ensure overall HSE compliance of all operations within federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Drives and instills a culture of safety that embraces continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Works with HR, Insurance company, doctors, and employee regarding Workers' Compensation cases.
  • Conduct and perform multiple site audits to ensure compliance with EHS regulatory and corporate requirements while implementing incident reduction initiatives.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with the specific duties of the position.
  • Pursues effective relationships with others by sharing resources, information, and knowledge. Assesses and responds to the needs of others to support a business outcome.
  • Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date knowledge in subject area to meet deadlines; follows procedures and policies and applies data and resources to support projects or initiatives. Identifies and addresses improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborates with others to solve business problems; escalates issues or risks as appropriate; communicates progress and information.
  • Supports safety practices by ensuring employee safety and protection by educating employees, leaders on employee safety; reporting, investigating, and analyzing employee safety incidents as needed; conducting safety-related activities for all employees; and implementing changes to the employee safety program.
  • Conducts standard assessments and analyses to evaluate health and safety programs; and consistently makes recommendations to enhance existing programs based on analyses and observations.
  • Contributes to risk control by assisting with implementation of changes that promote workplace safety and compliance (e.g., accident prevention, hazardous materials management, fire safety); and assisting with the evaluation of change effectiveness on workplace safety outcomes.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate degree in environmental health and safety or related field AND minimum one (1) year of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or directly related field OR
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or a directly related field.
Language Skills:
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of various levels.
Computer Skills:
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
