GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 The Manager of Community Engagement at Central City Health, under the direction of the leadership team will oversee implementation of projects, programs, and community events to engage key individual of CCH’s catchment zip code areas to increase the awareness of all comprehensive health services offered. The Manager under CCH (Central City Health) is responsible for implementing many diverse outreach initiatives to achieve the goals of engagement of new patients and the re-engagement of patients lost to care.

RESPONSIBILITIESOversee and participate in the simultaneous implementation of a wide range of outreach initiatives with varying timelines, budgets, and funders. These initiatives are comprised of community events, educational materials, programs, demonstration projects, and collaborations. The source of funding ranges from government grants, non-profit foundations to corporate and individual donations. Provide communications and messaging to target audiences including seeking to employ new and better tools and techniques as they become available. 
  • Program Development:  Under the direction of the CCH’s Leadership manage CCH’s community outreach projects, programs, and activities to reach target audiences with key messages and tools for engagement and re-engagement and being a stewardship of CCH resources, with measurable results. 
  • Budgeting & Reporting: Supervises a small staff of outreach professionals to maximize impact and growth of CCH patient volume. Oversees work planning and budgeting programs, each of which incorporates components, and funding sources. Reports on outreach progress and results to CCH leadership and funders. 
  • Organizational Leadership: As a member of CCH’s management team, the Manager will assist and implement strategic direction of CCH’s outreach efforts to achieve goals as outlined. Actively engages in cross functional management discussions to lead CCH’s efforts. Represents CCH at public speaking engagements, workshops, conferences, and on-committees to advance outreach partnerships and opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required.
  • Five years of experience in managing & implementing community outreach and education programs is required.
  • Certified as a peer support specialist or community health worker preferred.
  • 2 years recent leadership or progressive responsibility experience highly preferred.
  • MI Chauffeur’s License (CL) required or must obtain CL within 30 days of employment. 
  • Experience managing committees and working with partners to implement projects/programs. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in managing, analyzing, and holding expenses to program budgets. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google applications and Electronic Health Records systems.
  • Multitasking is a critical skill to accomplish a variety of goals with varying timelines, budgets, and staffing resources.
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills to collaborate tactfully and effectively with CCH’s partners and staff. 
  • Proven organizational and project management/coordination skills, including the ability to build and lead effective work teams and manage a diverse array of projects/tasks. 
  • Strong financial skills and attention to detail for reviewing invoices and employee timesheet allocation and for the tracking of expenses against budgets.
  • Advanced course work or other training, education, certification, or experience demonstrating in depth knowledge of education and outreach strategies and tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Walking, sitting, driving and/or standing for prolonged periods of time may be required.  
  • Able to lift 20 - 30 pounds.
  • Time spent in this position will be split between being in an office setting, attending, and implementing meetings, events, and programs at other locations, including outdoors in natural settings (exposure to noise, dust, weather element or extreme temperatures); occasionally, there may be tasks completed in a storage/warehouse facility.
  • Interacts with a patient population exhibiting severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Work hours may shift depending on meetings, projects, or programs’ needs. 
  • Must be available to work all hours scheduled. These include early mornings, evenings and weekends as determined by the organization and Senior Leadership.
  • May have close contact with members and/or their living environments which could include potential exposure to contagious diseases, unpleasant odors and/or to bug/pest infestations. 
  • Must possess and maintain an acceptable background check clearance as required by Central City Health, federal/state/county agencies, and other entities.
