Accountant

Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Payable: Match purchase orders with invoices and record the necessary information in the accounting software. Make payments to suppliers according to payment terms and conditions. Code documents according to company procedures.
  • Accounts Receivable: Match Customer Payment with customer invoices for accuracy. Code documents according to company procedures. Record the payment in the accounting software.
  • Sales tax calculations and payables verification monthly.
  • Workers Comp payments.
  • Insurance policies and payments with management.
  • Insurance tracking – and management.
  • Preparation for quarterly and annual income tax.
  • Expense Reporting: Collect and match employee expense report documents. Check for accuracy. Code documents according to company procedures. Record expenses with the accounting software. 
  • Bank account reconciliation: Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and credit card transactions. Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
  • Collections: Keep track of overdue customer invoices and contact customers when necessary to collect payment.
  • Researching and correcting account discrepancies.
  • Preparation & coordination of external audits & reviews.
  • Weekly Payroll Administration.
  • Preparing quarterly & annual payroll tax returns
  • Asset Administration. Update asset list and depreciation schedules.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
  • Reconciling and balancing GL accounts.
  • Reports: Monthly & Year End Financial Statements (Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Balance Sheet, Asset List, etc.).
  • Truck DOT files up to date.
  • DOT registration and tracking.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Compiling information for Federal, State, and Local taxes.
  • Assist with quarterly inventory activities reconciliation.
  • IT troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Perform general office duties when appropriate, such as filing, answering telephones, handling routine correspondence, and other duties as assigned.

Skills/Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Well-developed communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
  • Persistent attention to detail with the ability to work independently, extend hours, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Ability to accept responsibility for assigned tasks and complete them on schedule

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards

Computer Skills:Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet Explorer/Chrome/Edge, Familiar with Sage 50 Software (a plus).

Experience:This is a position that requires three to five years of experience. Four-year degree in finance from an accredited university is preferred. Bookkeeping, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, and tax experience required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30-$40/ Hour D.O.E.
