We are working with a company in the South Grafton area to hire an Extruder Operator.

Familiarity with the operation of the following instrumentation or processes:
  • Caliper Micrometer
  • O.D. Optical Measurement Cable O.D. Tape * Spark Tester Copper pre-heater
  • Mixing of colorants to compounds Compound Drying Apparatus * Conductor Straightener Jet Printers
  • Print Wheels
Job Activities:
  • Operating an extrusion machine requires workers to perform several basic tasks.
  • The operator will first select the copper, resin and color mix for each job.
  • Through the use of process sheets the operator mixes the thermoplastic materials in the form of pellets with colored dyes before feeding it into the extrusion machine.
  • Extruding machine operators set the dials and controls on the machine to ensure that the finished product is the right thickness and OD.
  • The extruder operator will be constantly working with tips and dies and basic mechanical tasks not limited to tightening and adjusting nuts, bolts and tension lines.
  • Once the product is created, extruding machine operators measure and test it to make sure that it conforms to the requested specifications.
  • Cleanliness and orderliness of workstation and work area is a must.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Degree or GED; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and instructions.
  • Ability to understand process sheets and interpret drawings and technical data sheets (TDS).
  • Communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
Math:
  • Job Title: Extruder Operator
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, division and multiplication.

  • The person in this position will be called upon to frequently lift or move heavy spools, reels and boxes.
  • They must possess the ability to climb ladders and reach above ones head to perform tasks and move material to work stations.
  • The employee will be employed in a moderately noisy environment and may have limited exposure to chemicals, fumes and plastics.
