Senior Services Audit Clerk

Department: Finance

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”)

This is an audit position with focus on the Senior Services department of Jewish Family Service Agency, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position includes the understanding of various grants, auditing vendor bills related to those grants, data input into various agency and grantor computer systems and strong team building communication skills to interface with accounting peers, agency departmental personnel and outside vendors. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the CFO and accounting personnel to understand various grant agreements and their components.
  • Identify and document grant requirements for various expenses.
  • Audit the vendor and agency personnel bills/POs for compliance with established parameters.
  • Communicate deficiencies to the vendor in a manner to be able to positively resolve issues, which may also include elevating to the CFO.
  • Attending accounting and JFSA agency meetings.
  • Attend accounting training as determined by the CFO.
  • Be able to drive to and from the JFSA agency offices and the Henderson accounting office for multi-weekly running and scheduled meetings.
  • Be able to drive to and from vendors to pick up large vendor billings.
  • Be able to fill out purchase order paperwork clearly and concisely without error.
  • Be able to enter data into various data bases as required by the agency and/or grantor.
  • Conduct analysis on grant expenses as determined by the CFO.
  • Be a collaborative teammate with the entire accounting department of JFSA.
 Qualifications:Knowledge of accounting and auditing concepts that might include:
  • Disbursement’s accounting.
  • Vendor communication.
  • Attribute auditing or review of vendor bills.
  • Accurate data input skills.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication and the ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks as well as good interpersonal communication skills are essential. 
  • Need to be flexible and have the ability to work in group settings. 
 Education: At least two accounting classes preferred. Experience: Two years of non-profit work experience is preferential but not required. Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to create a team work environment in communication when fulfilling essential job duties and data input. Must be flexible and have the ability to work in a group setting.   Computer Skills: Must have basic knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and database software.  Supervisory Responsibility: None. Certificates & Licenses: Must have a valid Nevada Class C driver license with currentautomobile insurance.  Work Environment: The work environment includes working in an office environment. Physical Demands: The physical demands require daily lifting, carrying, unloading and moving of paper files.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities or special needs to perform the essential functions. Salary & Benefits: 30 - 39 hours weekly, Monday- Friday, with an hourly rate of $17.50 per hour. Further benefits would be as supplied by the JFSA Employee Handbook for a part-time non-exempt employee.
