Physical Education Teacher

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all students. Our curriculum is designed to approach physical education and athletics toward developing fundamental movement skills. This requires the successful candidate to have an excellent understanding of each stage of child development and be able to teach three PE classes (per grade) each week. Additionally, it is important that the successful candidate ensures that the teaching and activities allow students to develop cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship; gaining confidence and engaging in activities that promote healthy, active lifestyles throughout their lives.
The PE teacher is expected to coach a fall sport which would include 6 - 8 games that fall after school hours, typically ending by or before 5:45 pm. In addition to teaching classes, in this role, you are responsible for covering duties throughout the week such as arrival/dismissal and lunch.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field
- At least two years of experience in teaching PE and/or instruction with students in elementary or middle school
- Coaching experience desired
- Excellent written skills with the ability to write progress report comments
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain activities, rules, and conduct with students
- Responsible with excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Must possess an innovative and collaborative approach to teaching
- Must exhibit, patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
- Extensive knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and exercise
This is an hourly position offering $22-27 per hour (based on experience)
