Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is looking to add a Lab Chemist I to our team. Our Lab Chemist I is responsible for sample preparation, and the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.
  • Shift: Need availability for 7 am-6:30 pm; Monday-Friday. OT and Saturdays will be periodically needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, and processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols;
  • Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems;
  • Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation;
  • Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems;
  • Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion;
  • Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines;
  • Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices;
  • Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.

Key Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required;
  • 1-5 years experience in hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods;
  • Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments/tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations preferred;
  • Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail;
  • Effective communication skills in writing and in verbal will be interacting with people of various education and technical backgrounds;
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
