Allergy Technician

Allergy Technician role includes providing allergy testing care to patients, pulmonary function, and skin tests, communicating with patients about symptom management and preparing medications like allergy serums and injections, coordinating insurance verification, setting up appointments, checking patients' medical history and vitals, assisting medical staff during examinations and in-office procedures, collecting lab samples, performing basic lab work, and preparing examination rooms.
SCHEDULE: Monday thru Friday; 7:45AM to 5PM
COMPENSATION: $22-$25
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts initial patient interview following referral from ENTA physician, orienting, and educating the patients regarding tests to be performed and treatments to be provided.
- Schedule and conducts allergy testing ordered by physicians; schedules ongoing immunotherapy, as required.
- Immunotherapy and scheduled injections.
- Organize testing and injection rooms; maintain supplies.
- Document accurately in EMR and the paper chart in a clear, concise, factual manner
- Obtains Medicaid authorizations or referrals for serum and documents them in
- Assist during injection hours, including but not limited to: answering phones; pulling serum; notifying patient of test results.
- Responsible for charging, coding and posting each procedure accurately.
- Verify insurance benefits prior to allergy testing and add benefits to EMR.
- Obtain referrals for Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy as required by patient’s insurance company prior to the patient’s appointment and add to the EMR.
- Patients are notified when co-payments and deductibles are required for surgery or office procedures.
- Follows all HIPAA regulations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Allergy: 1 year. (Preferred)
- Positive, professional attitude and code of conduct.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and ambitious.
- Preferred: EMR System eClinicalWorks.
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish.
