Deaf Reach Inc. is a small non-profit organization providing a range of services to individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing experiencing complex behavioral health concerns. Services provided include community support, day services, residential services, employment counseling, and interpreter services

Deaf-Reach Inc. provides residential services through two 24-hour group homes that house 13 clients enrolled in our community support services. These clients are diagnosed with serious mental health concerns and require supervision to perform various functions, including socializing, personal care, nutrition, medication management, and money management.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing support and care to residents in a group home setting. This position involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their well-being, and fostering a positive living environment. The Residential Counselor will engage with residents, promote independence, and provide direct support to enhance their quality of life.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for all residents.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, encouraging social interaction.
  • Implement individualized care plans based on each resident's needs and preferences.
  • Monitor resident behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
  • Facilitate recreational activities and outings to promote engagement and well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to provide comprehensive support.

Qualifications:
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Required: American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Deaf Culture: Knowledge of Deaf culture is essential
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • We do not sponsor work visas at this time.
  • Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred
  • Knowledge of first aid practices is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • A valid driver's license may be required for transportation-related duties.
  • A background in social work or related fields can enhance the candidate's qualifications.

  • Daily: Full-time
  • Weekday Evenings: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM; 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM (Overnight shifts)
  • Weekend 3:00 PM-11:00 PM
