Type of Employment: Benefited Full Time

Pay: $26.49 per hour

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Day Services Manager (DSM) core responsibilities begin with directly supervising the operations of, scheduling for, and programming to the Day Program. They will be responsible to work in conjunction with or in advocacy of each person served to develop engaging activities to promote having fun while building life skills and relationships based on their likes, interests and personal outcome measures within their Life Plans. The DSM is a direct supervisory position, and will be a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP). They will be responsible for the direct oversight of programmatic scheduling, staffing, training and interviewing employees. They will track/document daily/monthly/annual progress for each person’s chosen Personal Outcome Measures (POMS)/Goals. This position plays a key role in staff development through coaching, supporting and role modeling positive core competencies and person centered approaches to the Day Direct Support Professionals. This position reports directly to the Day Services Manager (DSM) and works alongside other key clinical supports.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The DSM will:

  • Be a representative of CWI, the Day Services Team, and people served during Life Plan meetings, special team meetings, and other clinically driven meetings. Bring forward and communicate any team driven discussion points for proactive person specific approaches.
  • Member to person served circle of support. Develop positive working relationships with persons served, their external team members, and advocates/guardians to promote positive life experiences consistent with person served values and open communication.
  • Openly communicate any changes, concerns or updates regarding people served to their Care Managers, advocates, guardians, and Residential representatives.
  • Ensure ADSM, QIDP, DSP and other clinical supports are up to date and current on any pertinent changes to plans of support for each person served.
  • Actively participate in Managers and All Management Meetings and others as assigned.
  • Assume Administrator On Call (Admin On Call) responsibilities at least quarterly for (1) week.
  • Work in conjunction with or in advocacy of the people served to develop and implement comprehensive Staff Action Plans, POMS/Goals and engaging activities to promote having fun while building life skills and relationships based on their likes, interests and personal outcome measures within their Life Plans.
  • Work in conjunction with ADSM, QIDP, DSPs, and people served to plan and coordinate meaningful, fun, and interesting activities. Encourage each person and program team to bring forward and try new opportunities and ideas. Activity settings may include, but are not limited to within program, outdoors, immersed in the community, and/or volunteering opportunities.
  • Work with other clinical supports (BIS, HSS, HSSA, PT, OT, Clinic Counselors) in the site to create a barrier free environment, rich with choices, meaningful activities, and interests reflected in a therapeutic manner with a group setting.
  • Plan, schedule, and provide support when needed during active programming and/or during community integration.
  • Establish coverage for vacations, leaves of absence etc. for direct support as needed.
  • Directly support and preserve the dignity and well-being of each person in their daily routine; activities may include, but are not limited to, dining support, lifting, repositioning, assisting in ambulation, crisis/safety assistance through physical intervention according to behavior plan, first aid, CPR, medication administration (AMAP) and transportation of participants.
  • Directly guide, encourage, and support participants to improve, increase or maintain their skills in communication, mobility, physical fitness/health, volunteer opportunities, community inclusion, personal care, and in the use of their self-calming or coping strategies.
  • Provide individualized levels of supervision as written within each participant’s individualized plans.
  • Track, Schedule and provide opportunities for Day Program staff to remain compliant and current in necessary trainings according to their job responsibilities.
  • Role model proactive core competencies, person-centered approaches for program ADSM, QIDP, and DSPs by coaching/supporting when communicating any concerns/observations. Communicate with ADSM, QIDP, and DSPs to gather feedback for each person served and their success/progress, and attain suggestions for new goal directions.
  • Have an affinity for working with people. Must have ability to understand and adjust personal working/communication style to enhance/develop positive and mutually respectful relationships with individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Participate in the interview, program orientation and support mentorship process for new employees.
  • Completion and delivery of orientation, annual and as needed staff evaluations.
  • The DSM is a member of each person’s support team. Their feedback and observations are key factors to a person served success. They will communicate any person specific observations such as, but not limited to, medical/health, day-to-day progress, behavioral/crisis updates to the program clinical supports, and other key members of the team.
  • The DSM is responsible for the maintenance of each person’s electronic documentation. They will oversee the completion of weekly, monthly and annual progress reports contemporaneously. Ensure each person’s electronic database is current and accurate. The DSM will work alongside key team members to attain important, up to date and mandatory paperwork.
  • Run reports in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system AWARDS to ensure electronic signatures captured contemporaneously.
  • Complete additional AWARDS reports as assigned.
  • The DSM must be able to support people safely in any area of their day-to-day needs. They must be able to complete and successfully pass initial training and certification (and subsequent re-certification as mandated) including, but not limited to, the following mandated areas: First Aid / CPR certification, Medication certification (AMAP), Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP)/SCIP-R training, and have a valid driver’s license for driving vans/metros.
  • Are responsible for their part of any in-service training and person specific training.
  • Participate in committees within program, within agency, or representing CWI.
  • With specialized certificates may deliver individualized trainings such as but not limited to: SCIPR, First Aid and CPR.
  • The DSM will work to ensure safe staffing practices by overseeing daily staff assignments, trainings, and approved time off schedules; offering real time feedback when mentoring new employees and having open communication with ADSM, QIDP, and DSP regarding their feedback for employee evaluations.
  • The DSM must have a valid driver’s license. They will be responsible for the safe transport of program attendees during the day to/from outing activities. When requested, they will carryover support for the transportation- to and from home during key transit times as assigned.
  • The DSM will work in conjunction with other clinical supports to oversee the completion and implementation of Plans of Corrective Action (POCA).
  • The DSM will review and audit programmatic maintenance to include but not limited to Kronos, progress notes, fire drill plans and critiques. They will assist in the oversight of program monetary budgets and person served’s monetary budgets.
  • Ensure safe and well-maintained program site and vehicle(s). Communicate and schedule when repairs are required.
  • Complete and supervise quarterly Case Record Reviews. Ensure follow up as necessary.
  • The DSM will abide by the Code of Ethics for Direct Support Professionals within the structure of CWI’s policies and procedures.
  • Actively cooperate with the President/CEO and other staff members in a joint endeavor in achieving the mission statement of CWI. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the CEO and Management Team.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have at least one year’s experience in providing services to persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Bachelor’s degree in a human services discipline or a bachelor’s degree with training or course work in human services and management experience preferred.
