JOB TITLE: Warehouse Scale Operator REPORTS TO: Non-Ferrous Operations ManagerJOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-ExemptLOCATION: 6225 Thompson Road, Syracuse NY HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PMOVERTIME: Saturdays as needed 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM COMPENSATION: $18.00 to $20.00 Per Hour

PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Warehouse Scale Operator position is to graciously greet customers, categorize and input metal grades brought into the system, accurately record weights and measures of inbound loads. Issue the peddler a receipt of weighted material grade(s) received.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Work and interact with customers receiving material at scale.
  • Computer experience - Make the necessary transaction entries to capture specific metal purchased and weights.
  • Maintain a work area representative of a safe, organized, efficient and clean environment.
  • Forklift experience a plus - Occasionally operates forklift to unload/load customer vehicles and/or trucks. Also utilize forklift to dump containers.
  • Learn to Identify/sorting ferrous or nonferrous materials light maintenance and/or clean up.
  • Perform and complete all work assigned in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
  • Train to operate a skid-steer.
  • Assist with material inventory as necessary.
  • Cross train in other tasks as needed.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions, work independently.
  • Complete other miscellaneous assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer competency.
  • Weights and measures background a plus.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Professional conduct.
  • Multi tasker.
  • One year of experience in a similar position a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
