Join Alliance for Community Empowerment as the Director of Clinical Services, where you'll lead the Behavioral Health Department in providing high-quality behavioral health services by ensuring the development, quality, and sustainability of care for individuals facing barriers such as justice-system impacted, intergenerational trauma, and poverty. You'll coordinate day-to-day operations, recommend and implement improvements, and monitor both program and individual staff performance. Additionally, you'll step in to provide direct services as needed. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our behavioral health programs and make a lasting impact on the community.
POSITION STATUS: Exempt, Hybrid- up to 16 hrs/wk remote.
ACE’s Department of Behavioral Health provides clinical consultation to our multidisciplinary team of case managers, career coaches, re-entry specialists, peer support specialists, community violence interventionists, and other direct service staff. ACE employs a team of professional therapists to provide high-quality behavioral health services in support of the following prevention, intervention, re-entry, and workforce development programs:
  • RUTH YouthBuild: RUTH YouthBuild is a comprehensive leadership development program for opportunity youth aged 16-24.
  • SECTOR: Skills and Experience for the Careers of Tomorrow (SECTOR) offers career pathways that lead to family-sustaining wages for adults impacted by the justice system.
  • Prevention: Gang Reduction Youth Development’s (GRYD) Prevention program, serving ages 10-15, is committed to fostering youth development through family engagement and personal development services. Our mission is to strengthen the resilience of youth, families, and communities through activities and experiences that promote social, ethical, and emotional wellness.
  • CVI: ACE’s Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Program connects resources to the communities and individuals most impacted by violence. CVI offers crisis response, mediation, safe passage, support services, and peace treaty facilitation. Its community-centered approach addresses the root causes of violence, aiming to reduce immediate harm and foster lasting peace and resilience.
  • House of RUTH: The House of Resilience, Unity, Transformation, and Hope (RUTH), is a transitional reentry house for those on a journey of renewal after incarceration. The House of RUTH offers hope, a fresh start, and a foundation upon which individuals can rebuild their lives.
  • Parenting Program: ACE’s multi-lingual Parenting Program offers a family-centered trauma-informed program designed to equip parents/caregivers with the tools to promote their children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and well-being as they navigate the parenting journey.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures the ongoing development and sustainability of department services through strategic planning, resource attainment, and policy/procedure development.
  • Leads ongoing assessment and evaluation to ensure that department services effectively to address participant, organization, and community needs.
  • Responsible for quality assurance in service delivery including clinical care and documentation.
  • Serves as ACE’s primary point of contact with the Department of Mental Health, Managed Care Plans, school mental health leadership, and other payers and related entities.
  • Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care.
  • Provides group and individual technical assistance related to clinical care management practices to direct service staff upon onboarding and ongoing.
  • Provides supervision and training to ACE staff, interns, and partners, ensuring efficient service delivery, overseeing performance reviews, and developing supervision plans, while ensuring compliance with training requirements and California Board of Behavioral Sciences standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
  • Expertise in clinical quality, operations, and leadership within behavioral healthcare.
  • Proficiency in a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including billing, diagnosis, assessment, and crisis intervention, particularly with chronically mentally ill populations.
  • Strong understanding of human development, stages of change theory, and cultural competence in service delivery.
  • Familiarity with participant engagement, assessment, service planning, and professional standards, including record keeping, charting, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health programs, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate within a community mental health team and represent the agency externally.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and supervise a multidisciplinary team, with a solution-oriented and flexible approach.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, adaptability, and openness to learning and feedback. Ability to follow and improve established procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, promoting a safe, inclusive work environment conducive to effective service delivery.
  • Proficiency in technical tools, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Psychologist (LP), in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • At least three years of professional experience in mental health.
  • Experience as a Medi-Cal provider in aspects of development, billing, and management.
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance.
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check.
  • Initial TB employment clearance required.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $100,000 to $120,000 annually with a full benefit package. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
