Title: Materials PlannerDepartment: Purchasing and Planning SectionStatus: Salary (Exempt)Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm

SUMMARY:Function: The objective of the Planning division is to utilize inputs (forecast, inventory, consumption rate, production run times, manufacturing rate, available staffing, and capacity) to develop plans that meet customer demand at minimal costs or fill demand that maximizes profit. Materials planning and control includes decisions related to procurement, utilization, and allocation of raw material resources to satisfy production requirements in the most efficient and effective manner. Decisions and recommendations related to raw material sourcing, purchase planning and purchase requisition processing are outputs of this position.

Scope: Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning, and quality control of raw materials and supplies while actively engaging with the suppliers and internal stakeholders.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • BA/BS degree preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience with an ERP system is required. SAP preferred. Excel proficiency.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (both oral and written).
  • Ability to control and negotiate with both domestic and Japanese suppliers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Ability to professionally present data and reports when meeting with both internal and external customers/suppliers.
  • Ability to complete clear analyses of business situations and offer recommendations of course of action.
  • Ability to effectively present complex information in group settings.
  • Have a stable, verifiable work history with an excellent attendance record.
  • Must be comfortable working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Management of raw materials, finished goods, fixed assets, and confidential, and/or customer information, as appropriate to the planning department.
  • Possess the ability to plan, organize, direct, and control/monitor events and activities within the planning department.

Periodical
  • Attending annual and/or quarterly refresher courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management.
  • Attend meetings with other departments to explain analytical methods and results as needed.

FURTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess reliable means of transportation to and from the work site.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
There is a slight potential for exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. The general work environment may involve long periods of sitting and/or strenuous activities such as walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs. and moving materials. May, or may not be required to wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other personal protective equipment.
